Speak up by Jun. 6 on Retiree COLA & Healthcare Costs

Now through next Fri., Jun. 6 the City of San Antonio (COSA) is asking residents to complete a survey on the FY 2026 (Oct. 1, 2025 – Sep. 30, 2026) Proposed Budget to help determine budget spending priorities.

COSA retirees are encouraged to complete the survey and tell City leaders to prioritize maintaining retiree Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs) and keeping retiree healthcare costs (i.e. premiums, copays, deductibles, coinsurances) affordable.

The survey can be completed online by clicking the button below, or you can copy and paste the following link https://saspeakup.com/sabudget2026 into your web browser.

Instructions:

  1. When you visit the survey homepage, click “Participate Now”.
  2. On the next page, under “* First Priority:” click the dropdown menu and select “Other (please specify”.
  3. In the second box below, copy and paste the following suggested language or type in the language of your choice, “Please prioritize providing COSA civilian retiree Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs) and keeping retiree healthcare costs affordable in the form of premiums, deductibles, copays and coinsurances.
  4. Note: the survey allows participants to select up to four (4) priorities. While RECOSA encourages retirees to make the COLA and affordable healthcare the first priority, you are welcome to make it whichever priority (1 – 4) you prefer.
  5. After completing all four priorities, the survey asks questions 5 – 11 regarding your city council district, demographic and disability information, as well as you name, email address, and phone number.
  6. When complete click “Done”.

With the economic challenges many of us are facing and now projected local budget deficits, it’s important for retirees to make their voices heard during the process of setting City budget priorities.

The deadline to complete the survey is next Fri., Jun. 6, so don’t delay!
