RECOSA is a 501(c)3 non-profit group whose members are retired, City of San Antonio civilian employees. It is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors.
RECOSA relies solely on donations to provide advocacy and programs on YOUR behalf.
Among the reasons to donate to RECOSA:
- in memory of a fellow City retiree or their family member
- to cover administrative costs required for operating RECOSA, including expenses related to the upkeep of the website
- to maintain a reserve for printing and postal communications with RECOSA members
- to avoid having to charge dues to RECOSA members
- for a possible tax deduction
The IRS requires non-profit organizations, such as RECOSA, to provide acknowledgement letters to their donors. These acknowledgement letters serve as documentation of your contribution for income tax purposes. Your contact information is used solely for this purpose.

TURN YOUR IRA INTO GENEROUS SUPPORT

Are you 70½ or older? You can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA. Age 73+? Your QCD can also satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may lower your taxable income.
Why Retirees Choose QCDs
- Tax‑advantaged giving
- Meets RMD requirements (73+)
- Maximizes the impact of your IRA dollars
- Directly fuels RECOSA’s retiree programs and advocacy
- Quick, simple, and easy to initiate. Consult with your financial advisor on details.
Act Before the Deadline
Grow your retiree support by making a QCD donation. QCD gifts for 2026 must be completed by December 31. RECOSA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and will send your tax acknowledgment letter on or before January 2027 for your records.

Please be sure to consult with your financial advisor for more information regarding a QCD and RMD donation.
