RECOSA held its fifth annual membership meeting on Nov. 12, 2015 in the City’s Central Library. Aetna Insurance provided a delicious lunch from Jason’s Deli. The agenda included board elections for 2016 and a vote to approve revised bylaws. Gene Camargo, Founding Board Chair, chaired a committee nominating a slate of four candidates to fill this year’s four open positions. Three slots were filled with returning board members: Paulette McClure, Charles Pruski, and Sergio Soto. In addition, one new board member was elected to the board, William “Bill” Telford.

Liz Garcia, Treasurer and Bylaws Committee Chair, presented highlights of the revised bylaws which were then approved by the membership. Rebecca Waldman, Chair, presented an annual report highlighting RECOSA activities during 2015.

Wanda Heard, Assistant Human Director of Human Resources, addressed the group regarding the change for 2016 in post-65 healthcare coverage to Aetna Medicare Advantage. Scott Weber from Aetna answered general questions from the group and clarified that mail order prescriptions through Aetna RX Home Delivery will remain at no cost to the member for Tier 1 Generic 90 day supplies.

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Founding Board Chair, Gene Camargo, and Founding Board Members – Rolando Bono, Eddie Garcia, Julia Castellano-Hoyt, Paulette McClure, and Morris Chase. Retired City Manager, Alex Briseno, expressed his appreciation to RECOSA for looking out for retirees’ interests and providing information regarding healthcare and retirement benefits.

Thanks to the efforts of Marianne Greene, Vice Chair/Membership Chair, there were so many wonderful gifts that just about every retiree received a door prize. UnitedHealthcare provided the major prize of an iPad Mini. We appreciate all the donations and also the fundraising efforts by Sergio Soto, board member, who was successful in attracting some large donations to RECOSA’s coffers. Major donations were received from NuStar Energy LLP, Partners in Primary Care, and several other business and individuals contributors.

We also thank Generations Federal Credit Union for providing ongoing website support, space for our board meetings, and gift cards for door prizes.

And we thank Morris Chase for these photos.

The 2013 meeting was a great success. One of our board members, David Casas, captured most of  these images of the event and so a majority of the  pictures are courtesy of David Casas. A full report on the meeting will be the subject of a forthcoming post on this website. More photos will be added periodically.
